Year 12 Student Competes in European Jiu Jitsu Championship
Year 12 Extended Sport student Chloe Walker, recently competed in the IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation) European Championship. This competition is one of the largest and most prestigious tournaments within the sport. Chloe travelled to Paris to compete at the Institut Du Judo.
Chloe, was the youngest competitor in the entire division, with 41 girls taking part in total. Despite being just 17, she competed in the adult blue belt featherweight division. Her first opponent didn’t show up so she was left to test herself against the tough second seed, an extremely experienced competitor of the division, in her first match. Chloe didn’t win but at her young age the competition was a massive opportunity and she relished the experience. Chloe is determined to get back out there competing again as soon as she can.
This experience is one of the best I have ever had, and I am so proud of myself for putting in all of the hard work to get there. I can’t wait to continue my journey in this sport which I love. College have been really supportive of my training and competitive journey too.
