Students receive recognition at the Rotary Club of Oldham Student of the Year Awards

OSFC was extremely proud to have the incredible efforts of 3 of our Year 13 students recognised at the annual Rotary Club of Oldham Student of the Year Awards at Oldham's Civic Centre on Wednesday 10 May. Ikram Alattar, Maisie Hutchinson and Oliver McWalters all received certificates from Oldham's Mayor Councillor, Elaine Garry, for their amazing work as OSFC students, but also their efforts in the wider community. At college, Ikram and Oliver are Student Governors, representing the views of their peers at Governing Body meetings and organising charitable events, while Maisie is a Sports Ambassador, raising the profile of sport at OSFC and in Oldham, and encouraging students of all ages to participate in sporting activities. Outside of college, Oliver is actively involved in the scouts, working towards his Chief Scout's Platinum Award, Maisie is a gymnastics coach for younger children, and Ikram volunteers to support vulnerable local families by working at a soup kitchen. All 3 students are committed to 'giving something back' to their communities and will continue this work as they move on to university to study Law (Ikram), Sports Therapy (Maisie) and History (Oliver). They are all wonderful students and role models. Congratulations!
