Oxbridge Trip 2025
On Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 July, 32 OSFC Year 12 students and 3 members of staff headed down for 2 days at Oxford University. The students were able to experience what it would be like to be an Oxford student, as they ate their meals and enjoyed a night's sleep at Corpus Christi College. The students also had plenty of time to explore the subject departments, and find out more about degree courses, as well as visiting Oxford's colleges and meeting Oxford staff and students on an Open Day.
On Tuesday evening, everyone enjoyed a Q & A session in the grounds of Lady Margaret Hall College, where 4 ex-OSFC students, now studying or working in Oxford, answered our current students' questions. The ex-students included 2 medics, Atty Mamman-Akaba (5th year) and Jennah Amin (1st year), as well as siblings Joshua Bruton (Maths, 2nd year) and Megan Bruton (English graduate 2024). It was a special evening!
The students benefited greatly from the trip. As Kashaf said: 'It really opened my eyes to what life is like studying at Oxford', while Daood found it 'an amazing experience that was very helpful to get an insight into Oxford.' For Ruwaida, it was 'a chance to discover a new city, meet new people, and engage in profound conversations with staff and students', and Ameera reported how 'it has motivated me even more to want to apply to Oxford.'
A hugely successful trip. We are counting down the days until our return visit in 2026!
