OSFC Proud of Diodes Scholarship

Oldham Sixth Form College (OSFC) is delighted to announce that three of its students have been offered a scholarship to work and learn with Diodes Zetex Semiconductors Ltd (Diodes), a local Engineering Business, based in Chadderton, Oldham.

Diodes are a leading global manufacturer who design, develop, manufacture, and deliver high-quality semiconductor products to the world’s leading companies. OSFC has partnered with Diodes to help support local students within the Oldham community with their further education and future careers. With so much local talent in the community, their combined aim is to foster this talent in Oldham by offering a level of support that will allow students to attend University to gain a degree and ultimately start a career at Diodes.

The Diodes Scholarship is a programme aimed at supporting OSFC A Level students from low-income households who wish to study a science/engineering course at UK universities, who would otherwise not have the opportunity.

This scholarship will provide successful applicants with a financial support package worth up
to £5,000 per year to cover expenses related to attending university, including accommodation and living costs. Applicants will study full time at an accredited UK university, with their learning being supported by on site placement, providing real world experience.

Congratulations to James Walsh, Imamul Hoque and Mohammad Hussain for all their hard work and dedication in applying to the scholarship and succeeding. Collectively, they thoroughly impressed the interview panel, showing a true passion for their subject and future career. For some, this is their first opportunity within the family to attend university, an amazing achievement.
