OSFC Students Celebrate Double Success

OSFC Students Celebrate Double Success

OSFC students have been celebrating a double success. GCSE resit students in Maths and in English were thrilled to achieve at least a grade 4 in their November resit exams, and it was a paired celebration for Joshua Abrahams and his twin brother Jordan. Josh said:

The re-sit is a good chance for students who face similar situations as me to get another chance to redeem themselves again. I was lucky to find a college such as OSFC to provide an offer like this otherwise I would not be able to pursue my passion. Thank you OSFC for another chance.

Passing my GCSE English test has been such a relief for me, not only has it meant I have more free time but it has just made me extraordinarily happy. Some of my friends have also resit the test with me and they all passed, we were very much happy for each other - getting grade 4's and even 5's. Overall I am very pleased with my results and it has given me the confidence boost I needed for future exams.

The results, published in January, are remarkable. Nationally, of those students sitting a GCSE resit in English Language 40.3% achieved a grade 4 or higher this year, however, students resitting at OSFC enjoyed a 61% pass rate. For Maths students there was also much to celebrate with over 31% of OSFC students achieving a grade 4 or higher, well above the national figure of 22.9%. These students had only been studying at the sixth form college for two months before sitting the exam in the autumn term and in spite of suffering a disappointment in the summer GCSE results, they had lost none of their ambition and have been rewarded with some great results. The GCSE English resit course provides an opportunity for our students to be successful and to grow in confidence in the subject, which will serve them well for the future. We are extremely proud of them all.
