OSFC Olympathon Returns for a Thirteenth Year

OSFC Olympathon Returns for a Thirteenth Year

The Olympathon returned for its 13th year in March and raised a record breaking amount of £5602. The Olympathon is a gruelling 26.2 hour sporting event consisting of 26 sporting activities over a 26 hour period, inspired by classic Olympic events. Students are split into 6 teams and work nonstop, switching up their activities on the hour. Some of the sports played within the 24 hour period include basketball, netball, table tennis, cricket, dodgeball and yoga. It is a tremendous feat that the students undertake and their efforts and stamina is truly commendable.

This year's charity, chosen by the students, is Brain Tumour Research with half of the money raised going to them and the other half towards the Olympathon fund to allow this event to continue in the coming years.

Callum Farrell, Tutor for PE/Sport and Olympathon XIII lead said;

The Olympathon event continues to get better and bigger each year! We are so proud of our year 13 students for organising and facilitating such an amazing event! We are delighted to have yet again beaten the previous fundraising total too!

Lewis Aston, a student coordinator of the 2026 event and participant in the 2025 event had nothing but positive things to say about the Olympathon and all it stands for;

The Olympathon is such a great event at college! During the long hours of the event we get to see all the hidden talents and skills of each individual participant come to light as they strive to support their teams. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a participant but felt a stronger sense of responsibility this year being a coordinator. It is a memory that will last forever!

The amount raised this year takes the overall total raised for charity since the Olympathons inception to £21,100.36. A fantastic achievement and long standing commitment to charity fundraising from our amazing Sport department!
