OSFC Celebrates the Class of 2026

OSFC Celebrates the Class of 2026

On Thursday 10th September, Oldham Sixth Form College (OSFC) held their annual Celebration Evening to celebrate the amazing achievements of this year’s graduating students before they embark on their next adventures. This is following an exciting year of results that saw over 1700 high grades and a pass rate of 98.3% (above the national average). Over 80% of students are heading onto university, including an impressive 25% progressing to competitive Russell Group institutions, whilst others have secured fantastic apprenticeship opportunities, job offers or are taking a gap year. Another amazing year of results for OSFC and its student community.

OSFC were delighted to welcome back one of its alumnus, Dr. Paul Armstrong, programme director of the MA in Educational Leadership in Practice at the University of Manchester, as Guest Speaker for the event. Paul presented the students with their prizes alongside, Principal, Suzannah Reeves, following an inspiring and touching speech, where he emphasised that there is no true measure of success and that people will find where they need to be going exactly when they need to.

A total of 76 Student of the Year prizes were awarded across 7 curriculum areas, to the students who demonstrated the greatest commitment and dedication throughout their studies. A further 9 special prizes were awarded, including the Governors Prize presented to Alex Bardsley, in recognition of not only his excellent outcomes but also his contribution to college life. Alex has impressive public speaking skills and he frequently represented his college at large-scale public events, he is a role model for younger students. He secured an A* in History, an A in Politics, and a B in Maths in his A Levels and the college is confident he will continue to be a proud asset of any university he joins following his gap year.

New for 2026, the college awarded 9 Principal’s "Belong" Prizes, which recognises student contributions towards the college’s values and community. These awards were presented to a range of students who showcase exceptional resilience, determination, the spirit of perseverance and academic excellence. It is a prize that rewards those who are positive contributors to college life.

The ceremony was closed by CEO of The Pinnacle Learning Trust, Nick Lowry, who equally praised all the hard work of staff and students this year. Following the ceremony, students were able to catch up with friends and teachers at the Celebration Evening after party. With live music and refreshments, excitement was in the air as students discussed their future plans, and proudly shared their brilliant results.

Suzannah Reeves, Principal, said:

This is truly such a special event and moment each year for our college community, it marks a significant moment in the educational careers of our young people. We celebrate the time our students have spent with us and we celebrate their futures, with an incredible sense of pride. They have worked hard, and achieved so much; I wish each and every one the best of luck and know they will succeed in many varied ways.
