OSFC Celebrates Success of Class of 2025
On Thursday 11th September, Oldham Sixth Form College (OSFC) held their annual Celebration Evening to celebrate the amazing achievements of this year’s graduating students before they embark on their next adventures. Over 86% of students are heading onto university, with a quarter of those going on to study at Russell Group universities, whilst others have secured fantastic apprenticeship opportunities, job offers or are taking a gap year. This follows an amazing record year for OSFC that saw the best results in the college’s history.
OSFC were delighted to welcome Matt Bulmer, Director of Education, Early Years and Skills for Oldham Council, as Guest Speaker for the event. Matt presented the students with their prizes alongside, Principal, Suzannah Reeves, following an inspiring and touching speech, where he praised the good work of educators at OSFC and the students themselves. He made sure to acknowledge the combined efforts that go into creating results to be proud of.
A total of 70 Student of the Year prizes were awarded across our 7 curriculum areas, to the students who demonstrated the greatest commitment and dedication throughout their studies. A further 9 special prizes were awarded, including Governors Award, presented to James Walsh, in recognition of his excellent academic outcomes and contributions to college life. James achieved a staggering 4 A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Electronics and Physics. He is now heading to Magdalene College, Cambridge, to study Engineering, his placement supported by a new scholarship initiative created between OSFC and Diodes Incorporated.
The ceremony was closed by OSFC Chair of Governors, Prof. Christine Horrocks, who equally praised all the hard work of staff and students this year. Following the ceremony, students were able to catch up with friends and teachers at the Glitz and Glamour after party. With live music and refreshments, excitement was in the air as students discussed their future plans, and proudly shared their brilliant results.
Suzannah Reeves, Principal, said:
We celebrated the Class of 2025 in great style, perhaps our best yet! These events are crucial to our core values of Belonging, Aspiring and Succeeding, a significant moment in the educational careers of our young people. It is with an incredible sense of pride that we welcome our students back one last time before they continue in their individual journeys. They have worked hard and achieved so much, I wish each and every one the very best of luck.
