Parent Governor Vacancies at Oldham Sixth Form College

Are you a passionate and committed parent or carer of a student at the College?

Would you be interested in providing support and challenge to leaders in order for OSFC to continue to provide an excellent teaching and learning experience?

Do you have skills and experience that would enable you to make a contribution?

We are seeking two dedicated individuals to join our Local Governing Body as parent governors.

As a parent governor, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our College. You will have the opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making, ensuring that the voice of parents is represented at the highest level.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Attending four Local Governing Body meetings per year
  • Providing supportive challenge to leaders and asking probing questions
  • Being engaged and well-prepared for discussions
  • Contributing to the development and monitoring of the College's strategic plan
  • Making specific links into College, perhaps by subject or particular programme, in order to get to know the College, understand how it works and see the student experience
  • Undertaking both statutory and developmental training, as required

No previous experience is necessary, just a genuine interest in the education and well-being of our students and a commitment to the role. We are looking for individuals with strong communication and interpersonal skills who can contribute positively to our board.

Please take a look at NGA’s 30 second video on the role of governors (originally developed for school governors/trustees but applicable in the main to college governors) for further information.
