A church ought to be able to put a little awe in the community. And I would say to those of you who know Christ, "If you know someone in that situation, you need to go to them and beg them in Christ's stead to be reconciled to God." And so I say if Grace Church is to be here in 10, 20, 30, 50, 100 years still holding out the glory of God, it will be because we allowed Jesus to build His church His way. In its infancy. And this is really a sub point to being redeemed. They were afraid that the Israelites were gonna come in and wipe them out. ", Now, I want to notice several things here and draw them to your attention. They didn't have any seminars or conferences or conventions or experts on the church or books to read. Partnership. As we begin to worship God in the context of this space that has been redesigned, rebuilt, refurbished, and renovated, we need to understand what it is that God expects from us when we pray to him from this sanctuary. Solomon urges God to enter into an agreement with Israel that when the people pray to God, whether to relieve a famine, or to give them victory in combat against an approaching enemy, or to grant them forgiveness from their sins against God and against one another, that God would grant their request. The only two things that would be required for the prayers of the people to be answered would be for the people to enter into the temple, repent of their sins, and seek God’s forgiveness. God is not going to give us everything we ask for just because we are asking for it when we gather in this beautiful worship setting. "And all that believed were together." Actually Verse 45 says they were selling their possessions and goods, parting them to all men as every man had need. So the building then is nothing more than a metaphor or a symbol or a picture of the true church. And that's a picture of the Holy Spirit who behind the scenes is the strengthening and the under girding of the church. Verse 43 literally says, "And everyone kept feeling a sense of awe." Many Christians are familiar with the words that are found in 2 Chronicles 7:14 in which God says to Solomon: That first church was a praying church. And those are what we call in the Greek imperfect verbs. There were several things that made up the life of the church. And that's the way the church ought to grow. That's Jesus' great statement. The church hopes to raise $200 million for a complex in the city. Their content was first of all they were a redeemed church. 2- The new building is to be located on the site of the old one. There are churches all through the history of the world. And I would add one more because it's so valid. We appreciate the forgiveness that comes through Jesus Christ and are eager to share the blessings he provides. It would have been the most majestic building that any Jewish person, and also that most foreign travelers had ever seen. We cannot and we dare not come here week after week with nothing more on our mind than what we want God to do for us and give to us, as if God is little more than a spiritual ATM waiting to dispense blessings when we enter the password. I need to have my sins forgiveness when I knowingly do what I know is unbecoming of a child of God. I want to share with you this morning on the theme when God builds a church. And the reason is because Jesus said, 'I will build My church,' and I'd rather not compete with him." Praising God.
